Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his first title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an better serve.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued four early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
